UFC run

Viana's Octagon tenure has been a roller coaster defined by her all-or-nothing approach. After her winning debut, she ran into a rough patch, dropping decisions to JJ Aldrich and Hannah Cifers and a first-round armbar to Veronica Hardy in 2019. She rebounded in style, submitting Emily Whitmire by first-round armbar in 2020 and repeating the trick against Mallory Martin at UFC 258 in February 2021. After a decision loss to Tabatha Ricci, she scored one of her most emphatic wins, knocking out Jinh Yu Frey with first-round punches in November 2022. That tells the whole story of who she is. When her jiu-jitsu finds a grip or her hands land clean, the fight ends fast; her armbar is a signature weapon and her power belies her frame. The trade-off is that when she can't impose that game, fights tend to slip away — her losses have come on the scorecards and, increasingly, to opponents who can out-grapple or out-strike her over a full fight.
